No matter how healthy we are at this moment, we may be hit with injuries or illness at any moment. In preparations for these, national medical insurance system has been established to help alleviate burdens of high cost of medical expenses.
There are two kinds of insurance systems you can subscribe to. One is Social Health Insurance administered by the company or organization you work for. The other is the National Health Insurance administered by the municipal goverment. It is mandated by the law for everyone to subscribe to either type of insurance.
It is the same with those who have gone through alien registration. (This exclues those who are staying only for a short time.) If you are not subscribing to the social health insurance with your employer, please go through subscription procedure at the City Hall. When you Subscribe to the National Health Insurance and pay the premium, you can be subsidized for your medical expenses. Please return the insurance certificate when you return to your home country or moving to other minicipalities. In the latter case, you need to subscribe to the insurance at the municipalities you are moving to. |

When medical treatment is undergone as for illness and injury in the medical institutions, support of medical expenses can be received according to the requirements for age and so forth.

3: 90%(from 70 to less than 75 year-old man)
4: 80%(from 70 to less than 75 year-old man with the income more than fixed)

Provision of high medical expenses |

When medical expenses(according to hospitalization/visitor) paid by the patients is large, the amount of money beyond the limit is repaid as high medical expenses if their application for the national medical insurance section is accepted. The amount of high medical expenses will be calculated by that section. Please don’t hesitate to ask in detail.

Large-Sum Medical Bill Allowance |

If you have difficulty paying a large medical bill, a loan of up to 95 percent can be arranged. (to be repaid upon receipt of the Large-Sum Medical Bill Allowance.) |

Other Payments |
| |
300,000 yen/child is paid to the head of household to cover childbirth and raising costs. For funeral expenses, 50,000 yen/person is paid to the person who conducts the funeral. |
